Pirates missed the chance to move level on points with Swallows and SuperSport United after suffering a 2-0 loss to Golden Arrows last Tuesday.
The Buccaneers redeemed themselves in the Nedbank Cup this weekend, progressing to the last 16 after edging Uthongathi 1-0 on Saturday.
On the other hand, the Citizens extended their unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions after thrashing Bloemfontein Celtic 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup last 32 on Saturday.
Jan Olde Riekerink's charges won back-to-back league matches before they were held to a 1-1 draw by Baroka just over a week ago and will have a chance to leapfrog Pirates and fourth-placed Golden Arrows on the log.
The first-round meeting between the sides produced four goals after they played to a 2-2 draw in December last year in Stellenbosch.
