Absa Premiership Starting XI: Cape Town City v Mamelodi Sundowns 17 August 2020

Teams: Cape Town City v Mamelodi Sundowns

Date: 17 August 2020

Venue: Loftus Versfeld

After back-to-back draws, Mamelodi Sundowns will be out to claim maximum points when they take on Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership on Monday evening.

The Brazilians missed the chance to keep pressure on leaders Kaizer Chiefs after playing successive draws with Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits over the last week.

As a result, Sundowns find themselves six points behind Chiefs, who secured a come-from-behind victory over Polokwane City on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, City restarted their campaign with a 1-0 win over Chippa United last Friday thanks to Kermit Erasmus' 10th goal of the 2019/2020 season.

Jan Olde Riekerink's troops now have the top-eight in their sight, as victory over the Chilli Boys took them up to ninth on the log, just two points shy of eighth-placed Golden Arrows.

The first round meeting between the sides ended in a 1-1 draw at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, as City's Edmilson Dove cancelled out Hlompho Kekana's early opener.
