Mamelodi Sundowns' seven-game winning streak in the DStv Premiership was halted after a goalless draw with Cape Town City on Saturday evening.
DStv Premiership
Result: Cape Town City 0-0 Mamelodi Sundowns
Date: 20 November 2021
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
The Citizens welcomed Nathan Fasika and Fagrie Lakay back from suspension, while the hosts also handed a first league start to Taahir Goedeman.
The defending league champions controlled possession from the onset as they have done for most of the league encounters this season, but they could only register one effort at goal in the opening 15 minutes.
The Citizens almost managed to find an opening against the run of play midway through the first half when Lakay was played in on the right side of the box, but the striker saw his effort palmed away by Denis Onyango.
City goalkeeper Hugo Marques had to be at his best with 10 minutes left of the half, as the Angolan got his across his line well to keep out Haashim Domingo's free-kick from the edge of the box.

Sundowns continued from where they left off when the second half resumed, with Domingo forcing Marques into another low save five minutes after the break.
City could have broken the deadlock on 70 minutes through Goedeman, but the young attacker's strike was brilliantly kept out by Onyango.
With Sundowns struggling to break down the City defence, the co-coaches opted for a double change as Lyle Lakay and Mothobi Mvala replaced Divine Lunga and Thapelo Morena.
However, both sides could not find the all important winning goal as Sundowns maintain their unbeaten streak while the Citizens fail to bounce back from the loss to AmaZulu.
