Clarity has finally emerged regarding the mysterious injury that has kept Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bontle Molefe out of action.
Fans were left concerned and puzzled after a recent video posted by goalkeeper Bontle Molefe surfaced on his official TikTok page.
In the video, the 22-year-old was seen using a walking guide, clearly in rehabilitation and seemingly re-learning how to walk—a shocking image for supporters who had been unaware of any injury.
Speculation quickly circulated among the Amakhosi faithful, especially given that the club had made no public announcement regarding the severity of Molefe’s condition or the timeline of his recovery.
The mystery around his absence only deepened, as many expected the young goalkeeper to feature more regularly in matchday squads.
However, insiders close to the situation have now provided crucial clarity. Molefe reportedly underwent surgery to correct slipped discs in his back, in addition to addressing complications involving his spinal cord.

According to those with knowledge of the matter, the issue had been troubling the Soweto-born player for some time, gradually worsening before medical experts advised that surgery was the best long-term solution.
Molefe, who was promoted to the first team at the age of just 16, has long been seen as one of the most promising talents to come through the Kaizer Chiefs system.
While he is currently fourth in the club’s goalkeeping pecking order behind Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen, and Fiacre Ntwari, his potential remains highly rated within the club’s technical setup.
Despite the severity of the procedure and the long road to recovery that lies ahead, there is no concern within Naturena about Molefe’s future. In 2023, he signed a three-year deal with the club, which includes additional option years—an indication that Chiefs still believe in his long-term value to the team.
For now, the priority is recovery.
Molefe's journey will take time, patience, and continued support, but the clarity from those close to the situation offers reassurance that the goalkeeper is on the right path.
