Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung has given an update on the club's negotiations with their development product, Njabulo Blom.

In the next few weeks, Blom would have entered the final six months of his contract with Amakhosi, thus opening the way for other teams to sign the 22-year-old on a pre-contract.
Chiefs, however, have been hellbent on holding onto a player who has come through the club's youth structures, although negotiations are still ongoing between Amakhosi and Blom's camp headed by veteran agent, Rob Moore.
While the two parties go back and forth over a deal that would suit both their best interests, Motaung, Chiefs' marketing guru has weighed in on the matter.
"Look, I think the development of our players is very key to us, particularly the ones we develop ourselves. The challenge is the structure, and the way deals are done, agents come in and sometimes families don't understand the business side of things. So, I'll be sad to lose Blom, but if we lose him, it won't be without any effort from us," she told journalists at a press conference hosted by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, held in Sandton.
"Kaizer Chiefs have worked very hard behind the scenes to make sure he is part of the team and I think you also have to accept if a player doesn't want to be with you and if a player has to learn and explore the world.
"For us, our homegrown talent is what we're proud of and what we'll invest in," she added.
Blom has established himself as a key part of coach Arthur Zwane's plans this season and has made 13 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.
