Kaizer Chiefs young defender Aden McCarthy, who has been alternating between the senior team and the DDC side, and even attending trials in Europe, recently shared his perspective on his journey.
Speaking to the Siya crew during the Carling Black Label Cup All Star team press conference at Orlando Stadium, ahead of their game against Magesi FC on Saturday, McCarthy emphasized his focus on controlling what he can and leaving the rest to divine timing.

McCarthy expressed his readiness to contribute to the senior team and his eagerness to seize any opportunity that comes his way.
"With me I just wanna give it my all and my best. I have been enjoying myself doing my best, controlling what I can control. Whatever happens, will happen, it's God's timing after all. But look at what happened to Mfundo Vilakazi last year. He played in the Carling All Star team and things happened for him and now I am here playing in the same game and that would open doors for me as well. But I will just do what I know on the day and do it to my best. The rest is in God's hands," McCarthy told Soccer Laduma.
The 21-year-old acknowledged the challenge of breaking into the first team, especially as a defender, but remains focused on what he can control.
"It is tough. There is a lot of pressure and as a youngster I understand also that being a defender the chances won't easily come. I will just keep my feet on the ground and my head down controlling what I can, again. And not letting any of this get into my head," McCarthy told the Siya crew.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, McCarthy is set for promotion to the first team in January, to provide backup for right backs Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons in cases of injuries or suspensions.
Additionally, McCarthy's versatility allows him to play central defence and defensive midfield roles, enhancing his value to the team.
McCarthy's dedication and adaptability exemplify the promising future that could lay ahead for him. His focus on personal growth and readiness to embrace opportunities reflect both his maturity and commitment to his career at Amakhosi. As he continues to develop, McCarthy is poised to become a valuable asset to the team.
