The story
Thembinkosi Lorch, a player that hogs the spotlight for all the good and bad, has been a trending topic online since the start of last weekend.
The former Orlando Pirates attacker finished the 2023/24 season in rather precarious fashion. To celebrate winning his first DStv Premiership crown with Mamelodi Sundowns, Lorch went on Instagram live to share footage of him dancing with two women, seemingly under the influence of alcohol.
Lorch went viral and head coach Rulani Mokwena revealed in an interview that "Nyoso" called him in tears to apologise for the video. Mokwena has defended his player, reminding fans that Lorch isn't perfect. He went on to miss the Nedbank Cup final against his former club due to injury.
The 30-year-old started trending late on Friday after seemingly purchasing a truck. Lorch, strapped in a moon boot, took to IG to share a clip of him revving a truck and was pictured with what appears to be a salesman, in front of a brand new truck. He went viral on Twitter/X after this post:

Another reason why Lorch has been trending of late is due to Orlando Pirates' behind-the-scenes documentary, "The Change Room," which is streaming on YouTube.
Mako hinted at one of the reasons why Lorch left the Buccaneers in the middle of the season. Mako suggested that Lorch and Namibian utility player, Deon Hotto, didn't see eye-to-eye, impacting the team dynamics and dressing room harmony.
It's been alleged in the doccie series that some players were discontent with Hotto's regular minutes under coach Jose Riveiro, with Hotto playing in several different positions when called upon every week.
"The incident between Lorch and Hotto, I could say it really affected the team I will explain it as I witnessed it," Mako said in the documentary.
"Some people didn't get along with Hotto, I won't name anyone. And we are supposed to be a team. When we're on the field, they don't pass to each other, they harshly tackle one another... It was a major issue that affected the team. They didn't greet each other.
"In my point of view the guy number 3 [Lorch] because maybe he was always getting injured and Hotto was scoring. I could say it's jealousy in my view the way I saw it because there were others who got involved.
"And some of them are still on the team but I won't mention exactly who did and said what. But it was very deep," he added.
