Nigeria's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign ended in heartbreak as they suffered their only defeat of the tournament in Sunday's final against the Elephants.
Led by captain William Troost-Ekong and coach Jose Paseiro, the Super Eagles finished second in Group A ahead of eventual winners Côte d'Ivoire and went on to knock out Cameroon, Angola, and South Africa on their way to the final.
The Super Eagles also proved to be one of the most defensively solid teams in the tournament, conceding only two goals before the final, thanks to the consistent performances of Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, William Troost Ekong and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
Dressed in traditional wear, the Nigerian ballers were welcomed by President Tinubu in the nation's capital of Abuja. The players will be receiving a plot of land and apartments in the city, with every team member also being conferred with the honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).

"It's not easy to accept a loss, especially when expectations are high, but you have shown sportsmanship, resilience, and team spirit throughout the tournament," said President Tinubu to the players at the Nigerian Presidency headquarters.
"As a team, you have taught us lessons about resilience, unity, diversity, and excitement in competitive games," he added in quotes published by beIN Sports.
Nigerian authorities reportedly wasted no time in providing the Super Eagles with forms to allocate the land that's been promised to them by President Tinubu.
