The story
With Cape Town City looking to secure the signing of Thulani Serero, the skillful attacker is probably chomping at the bit to get back into action.
Serero has been training with the Citizens in recent weeks and returned to the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday to wrap up final matters having spent the past five seasons there.
The 34-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Khorfakkan in June and could finalise his move to City by next week, just in time for a home clash against AmaZulu next week Sunday.
Should Serero join City, it would mark a return to the Mother City for the mercurial midfielder, who left Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) in 2011 after graduating from its academy in 2008.
Serero made the progression to Ajax Amsterdam, where he spent six seasons and made over 120 appearances, winning three Eredivisie titles and one Dutch Super Cup in the process.
His memorable stint in Amsterdam saw him endear himself to the fans with his effortless skills and with 17 goal contributions he made at the club, three standout for us as his most unforgettable.
From his first official goal for Ajax Amsterdam to his special goal against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, Serero has plenty to savour from his time in the Netherlands.
