The story
Former Liverpool head coach, Jurgen Klopp, dedicated a touching post to HBUFC with a series of snaps and a video clip of him reflecting on the trip to Mzansi.
Jurgen Klopp enjoyed a fantastic experience in Cape Town last month as he attended the 10th anniversary celebration of the Hout Bay United Football Community Trust.
He was the special guest at a fundraising event held at the Bay Harbour, which featured an engaging question-and-answer session.
Klopp has been a patron of Hout Bay United FC since 2017, supporting the community-focused football club with various donations and assisting in the construction of a multi-purpose facility for the local community.
About a decade ago, HBUFC began with informal football matches around the harbour, aiming to provide children with a positive distraction.
Today, the club proudly fields over 15 men's and women's teams, with senior players actively involved in coaching and mentoring the younger teams.
During his visit, Klopp connected with HBUFC's youth players in what seemed to be a coaching clinic organized by Adidas.
He shared photos with the aspiring footballers and highlights from the Bay Harbour event on his Instagram page.
"The people of Hout Bay United Football are incredible, and so is the job they do. The impact they have is absolutely incredible. Being there, feeling, seeing, sensing and breathing in the spirit they create is second to none," said Klopp.
"It's a fantastic idea leading to a great project. I'm super happy to be part of it," noted the German mentor.
