Cape Town City stands against GBV
As GBV stats in South Africa continue to make for grim reading, activism efforts from influential male athletes continues to be of the utmost importance.
Organisations such as the Tears Foundation, Art of Charity and Lawyered Up understand the impact that footballers can have in the fight against GBV, and they partnered with Cape Town City to seek the support of the players who are adamant in taking a stand.
Lyle Lakay, Wayde Lekay, Thabo Nodada, Darren Keet, Jordan Bender, Marc Van Heerdan, Thato Mokeke, Lorenzo Gordinho, Katlego Mokhuoane, and Taariq Fielies were the players involved in the beyond 16 days of activism video:
The 16 Days of Activism against GBV is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November and goes on until 10 December.
The Citizens and the aforementioned organisations aim to go beyond that - to continue the fight and stand against GBV even after the annual activism campaign.

The Soweto Giants were involved in Vodacom's anti-GBV campaign recently, and with Cape Town City also joining the fight, hopefully we'll see more teams and players in the DStv Premiership taking a stand.
