The story
Acclaimed Afrobeats musician, Burna Boy is investing in Nigeria's future football stars by kickstarting his own youth academy.
The Burna Boy Football Academy is open to boys aged 4 to 15 in a junior section, with a senior section welcoming boys aged 16 to 21 and operates training centers in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.
According to a statement on the academy's website, its mission is to cultivate young talent and ensure that promising players are recognised and developed.
Although this academy is just one of many in a single country on the world's largest continent, its impact could prove to be a masterstroke in the development of West African football talent, in hopes of turning young ballers into African giants on the biggest stage.
In addition to the academy, the Burna Boy Football Show will be made available for players aged 18-21 to take part in.
It is a reality TV show that puts the academy's budding talent on the map and giving them the opportunity to get scouted by major clubs in Europe.
Players will audition for a month-long camp, with top performers receiving trial opportunities at partner clubs such as Manchester City, Brighton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Leicester City.
