The story
Yesterday, the PSL announced the postponement of the MTN8 semi-final, first leg, between Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates at DHL Stadium, rescheduling the clash to Wednesday, 28 August at 18:00, due to severe weather conditions in the Mother City.
The postponement comes after guidance from City of Cape Town officials and stadium management, who reported gale-force winds reaching speeds of 67 km/h.
The severe weather has caused damages to buildings, road blockages from fallen trees, and some disruptions to stadium facilities.
Supporters on social media had plenty to say over the PSL's decision to postpone the game for a day, with a number of fans adamantly opposing the decision, citing inconsistencies in how inclement weather is assessed by the PSL ahead of kick-off.

Here are some of the mixed reactions on the Twitter/X timeline after the PSL postponed yesterday's semi-final:
This doesn't come as a shock because only the chairman's team is exempt from playing on flooded fields in the PSL. We've seen many players from teams not owned by Khoza having to swim through flooded fields before. pic.twitter.com/c6etULrbZH

Sometimes people chose to not use their brains how are you blaming Khoza for weather and if anyone suffers it's pirates City didn't travel to Cpt pirates did and they will have to travel back and be ready for the game on Saturday again who really suffers here

Not a bad decision, just a lack of consistency. TS Galaxy played in the flooded pitch "swimming pool" not long ago. But no single official saw it fit to postpone the match?

Teams have played in rainy and windy Cape Town weather but the PSL chairman's team can't. Tjo corruption in this league??

This is disappointing, but even more disappointing and bizarre is the rescheduling! How does the game kick off an hour before the other fixture kicks off? https://t.co/c2He6BKPTI

Fairs, the weather has been torrid man. Wouldn't be surprised if they reschedule this for a later date or make it the 2nd leg instead of the first. https://t.co/mARvOIPSJi
