The story
Not long after Cape Town City's 16-year-old prodigy, Emile Witbooi produced an excellent display in Amajimbos' dramatic win over Egypt, the youngster received a frame-able gift for his efforts.
Witbooi led Vela Khumalo's side to a 4-3 win over Egypt in their opening 2025 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Casablanca, Morocco's capital, on Monday night.
The skillful attacker played a role in Simphiwe Mlondo opener with a smart assist before netting a ferocious winner in the 71st minute, going onto to emulate ex-Orlando Pirates baller Thembinkosi Lorch's celebration from the 2019 AFCON against the Pharaohs.
In the change room after the seven-goal thriller, Rulani, joined by "Nyoso" and Cassius Mailula, presented Witbooi with Lorch's Wydad jersey as a Man of the Match (MOTM) award, promising Khumalo's players that he'll do the same for the next MOTM recipient.
Amajimbos will hope to stamp their authority in Group B when they take on Cameroon on Thursday afternoon, with their last group game coming on Sunday against Burkina Faso.

Mokwena hasn't shied away from backing South Africa's next generation of football stars at the Under-17 AFCON, as he visited the camp last Friday before the opener.
At Monday's game, Rulani was joined by both Lorch and Mailula, a move that undoubtedly left a smile on the faces of the young ballers representing Mzansi.
