Kaizer Chiefs were crowned DStv Diski Shield champions on Saturday after defeating Stellenbosch 2-0 at Mpumalanga Stadium.

Chiefs were unchanged from the team that beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals, as the likes of upcoming stars Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi and Wandile Duba were in the line-up.
Amakhosi took the game to Stellies in the early exchanges, with Shabalala impressing on the right wing but they did not have the final product in the last third.
After a short stoppage midway through the first stanza, Vela Khumalo's charges quickly got into rhythm as Vilakazi dribbled his way towards goal and fired a strike that was was saved by goalkeeper Leigh Brandt.
Stellenbosch, meanwhile, got into the game in the tail end of the first stanza after they forced goalkeeper Lungile Nkosi into an acrobatic save.

The second stanza got off to a lively start after Stellies were denied the opener by the woodwork. Chiefs also put their foot on the pedal, as just before the hour mark Shabalala came close to breaking the deadlock with a curling strike that was kept out by Brandt.
However, Vilakazi eventually got the breakthrough for the Glamour Boys just after that with a smashing strike into the top corner after cutting into his left foot in the box.
Stellies had a big chance to level matters in the last 12 minutes after a rebound fell kindly at the back post but one of their players ballooned the strike over the crossbar from close-range.

As the game opened from end to end, Chiefs put the game to bed in the last six minutes after Shabalala fired a strike home in the box from a rebound after Puso Dithejane's strike came off the post.
Khumalo's boys closed the game by defending in numbers and held on as they crowded Diski Shield champions for the second time, following their inaugural crown in 2018.
