Orlando Pirates striker, Thami Gabuza, says that it is an honour to be nominated for the CAF Africa-based African Player of the Year award, but aims to stay grounded.
Gabuza, 28, is one of four Orlando Pirates players to make the original list of 24 nominees, alongside Kermit Erasmus, Oupa Manyisa and Felipe Ovono.
The former Golden Arrows striker has not had the easiest time with the Buccaneers since making the move from Durban, however under Eric Tinkler he has started to really show his worth, playing a vital role in the club's march to the CAF Confederation Cup final.
Gabuza, who has scored five goals in the CCC, told Pirates' official Twitter account, "It's an honour to be shortlisted with Shorty (Kermit Erasmus) over here. It will be great if we get all the way to the end. We aren't looking too far ahead though. We're just keeping our feet on the ground letting the performances do the talking.
"I'd like to thank the people who have made it possible for me to get nominated. My team, the coaches, everyone."

The list of 24 nominees will be whittled down later in the year before an eventual winner is crowned towards the end of 2015.
