The Buccaneers overcame Al Ahly in their two-legged semi-final of the continental competition, emerging 5-3 winners on aggregate. In the other semi-final, Zamalek were eliminated by Etoile du Sahel 5-4 on aggregate, and Bucs will now face the Tunisians in the final.
Matlaba has indicated that his side would like to have met Zamalek in the final of the competition after the Egyptians beat them twice in the group stages of the competition, 2-1 and 4-1 respectively.
"It was a really good feeling (beating Al Ahly in the second-leg) because, like you said, not many teams can say they have done what we did in Egypt," Matlaba told Soccer Laduma.
"Honestly, from the beginning of the Confederation Cup we always wanted to meet Al Ahly, so when the opportunity presented itself we couldn't waste it.
"I'm glad we beat them in both the first and second-leg. We were hoping to meet Zamalek in the final, but it wasn't to be."
