The Urban Warriors have been scheduled to travel to Angola to play against Sagrada Esperanca in the Confederation Cup on February 13.
But the Mother City outfit announced this morning that they have withdrawn from the continental competition.
Speaking to the Siya crew, SAFA head of communications, Dominic Chimhavi, says Ajax's decision could land them into trouble with the country's football mother body and the Confederation of African Football.
"This is SAFA's official comment that we are very disappointed in Ajax that the initial comment from the club has been communicated through the media without informing us, although we have finally received their communication. Their reasoning for their withdrawal is unacceptable to us. It's unacceptable to SAFA.
"According to the rules and regulations from CAF, this is unacceptable. Our stance is that their withdrawal is not accepted by SAFA. We are just waiting for further deliberations from the parties involved. If they (Ajax) insist, they will be leading both SAFA and CAF to take action," said Chimhavi.
