'Phinda Mzala' was team captain when the Buccaneers lost the 2013 final to Egyptian giants Al Ahly and with many of the same players who were involved still in the team, they will be looking to make amends by winning the CAF Confederation Cup trophy when they take on Etoile du Sahel.
"You know what, the good thing is that most of the players who lost that final in 2013 are still around. Obviously we don't want history to repeat itself," Lekgwathi told Soccer Laduma.
"We have been sharing our experience with the new guys, although some of them have already tasted CAF competition football.
"Guys like Kermit Erasmus, Thabo Rakhale and Thamsanqa Gabuza, just to mention three, have been key to our CAF campaign so far, even though they were not part of the team in 2013.
"The main thing is to ensure that we win at home and not just by one goal. If you get a chance to score five, by all means, go ahead and do it!
"I was watching the Champions League final and TP Mazembe showed just how much they needed the trophy. They beat USM Alger 2-1 in their own back and finished them off 2-0 at home.
"So they made their job very easy by winning the first leg, even though it was away. That puts you in the driving seat because you can close up shop when you are playing at home if you want to."
