Orlando Pirates duo, Kermit Erasmus and Felipe Ovono, failed to secure a spot in the final three for CAF's Africa-based African Player of the Year award for 2015.

Erasmus, who finished the CAF Confederation Cup as the second top scorer, and Ovono, who was in fine form for both Equatorial Guinea and the Buccaneers, made the top 10 back in November, however they are now out of contention for the award.
CAF Champions League winning goalkeeper, Robert Kidiaba, CCC winner with Etoile du Sahel, Baghdad Bounedjah, and Mazembe's Mbwana Aly Samatta, are the three that will be up for the award when the winner is announced next year.
Meanwhile, for the overall CAF African Player of the Year, there is Andre Ayew, Yaya Toure and in-form Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who will battle it out for the title.
The news will come as a disappointment to both Erasmus and Ovono, however the fact that the three finalists in their category went on to win a continental competition in 2015 does offer some justification for their selection.
