Bucs reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday and Jele has been one of the players tasking with taking over the role of captain following Oupa Manyisa's absence through injury.
Jele was the captain on Sunday in Egypt when Bucs beat Al Ahly 4-3 in their semi-final second leg to qualify 5-3 on aggregate for the finals of this year's Confederation Cup.
The 28-year-old indicated what a great honour it is to be given the armband and lead a team with a stature such as Pirates.
"It's unfortunate that Oupa is out injured as we all wanted to see him play until the finals however he is injured and that means I am the captain now," Jele said.
"It's a great honour to captain a team like Pirates where you have players who are willing to die for the team on the field of play. You saw how we did it in Egypt.
"This was not the first time and we will carry that performance through to the finals. We haven't won this trophy before and we want to add it to the trophy cabinet this year."
