Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Felipe Ovono, has spoken of his disbelief after making it onto the ten-man shortlist for the CAF Africa-based African Player of the Year.

The Buccaneers advanced to the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup by beating Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the semi-finals and have subsequently had two of their stars, in the shape of Ovono and Kermit Erasmus, nominated for their exploits in continental competitions.
Ovono joined the Sea Robbers ahead of the 2015/16 campaign following impressive exploits at the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, and is delighted that such recognition has come such short way into his Bucs career.
"I can hardly believe it, especially with this being my first season with Orlando Pirates," Ovono told Pirates' official website.
"I have been blessed with playing for one of the best Clubs in the African continent and I am aware that I would not be in this position if it was not for my team mates.
"This is an honour for my country, my team and for me as well. People judge you by your achievements and for me to be on the shortlist proves that I'm on the right track.
"I realise that in a continent where football is the number one sport, not a lot of people get to boast about playing for Orlando Pirates let alone being shortlisted for CAF awards. So yes, this is huge for me."
