The Buccaneers put in all the hard work in reaching the final of the CAF Confederation Cup, knocking Egyptian giants Al Ahly out of the competition in the semi-finals.
However, Bucs stumbled at the final hurdle once again, losing 2-1 on aggregate to their Tunisian counterparts.
"Everyone is hurting from this loss but we have to move on. I think we started off very tensely and were scared to concede," Matlaba explained to Soccer Laduma.
"It was only in the second half that we started playing, as we were not playing against the wind anymore.
"Their players congratulated us after the game and confessed that they didn't know how they'd beat us.
"I'm sure Zamalek and Al Ahly are really disappointed in us as they expected us to win it after beating them. It is painful to be a runner-up in so many competitions."
