Platinum Stars recorded a 1-0 win over Uniao Do Songo in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie.
Robert Ng'ambi dropped to the bench, while Shilono was restored to the line-up to lead the Stars attack.
There weren't that many chances to write home about, with Siyabona Zulu trying his luck from distance midway through the first half.
However, the score remained goalless as the sides entered the halftime break.
Cavin Johnson opted for a change in the second half when Ng'ambi replaced Zulu as Dikwena looked for away back into the clash.
The home side pushed for an opening goal, but Shilongo had a header cleared off the line 10 minutes into the second half.
Stars eventually broke the deadlock midway through the second stanza, courtesy of strike from Robert Ng'ambi.
The home side managed to hold on for the win and will now take a one-goal advantage into next weekend's second leg.
