Fagrie Lakay bagged an away goal for SuperSport United, as they secured a 1-1 draw with Barrack Young Controllers in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie.
SuperSport broke the deadlock after 11 minutes as Thuso Phala drilled low cross into Lakay, who slotted home from close range.
However, Controllers managed to hit back in the 25th minute to level matters in the tie.
The home side were then awarded a penalty in the 35th minute after a foul committed by Keagan Ritchie. However, Ronwen Williams guessed the right way and saved the spot-kick.
Both sides pushed for more goals, but the score remained 1-1 as they went into the break.
Williams was proving to be the difference, as he pulled off another fine save to deny the home side the go ahead goal in the 56th minute.
Stuart Baxter opted for a double change after the hour-mark, as Jeremy Brockie and Onismor Bhasera replaced Lakay and Ritchie.
Aburey Modiba had a chance to restored SuperSport's lead in the 71st minute, but the winger sliced his effort wide of the upright.
BYC pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages, but Williams was at his best to deny them victory in the closing stages.
