Wits attacked from the onset and were nearly ahead in the eighth minute but Lupeta headed over from close range, after being picked out by Nhlapo. The hosts didn't have to wait long for the opener, as Sibusiso Vilkazi embarked on a good run, before slotting past the Light Stars goalkeeper. Lupeta squandered another chance in the 33rd minute, as the Portuguese forward skewed his header wide of the mark from six-yards out. However, Wits doubled their lead two minutes later when Abednego Mosiatlhaga's free-kick evaded everyone and sailed into the back of the net. The lead was extended in the 39th minute, as Lupeta's back-heel teed up Vincent Pule, who rifled home Wits' third goal from outside the box. Wits grabbed a fourth goal in the 57th minute, 17-year-old Liam Jordan smashed home from close range, with Lupeta picking up another assist. Lupeta eventually got his name on the score-sheet in the 87th minute, before Dillon Sheppard netted his second goal in the two-legged affair in stoppage time to make it 6-0.
