SuperSport United Winger Aubrey Ngoma Relives His Time At Mamelodi Sundowns

Aubrey Ngoma has relived his difficult spell at Mamelodi Sundowns and also stressed the importance of performing well after SuperSport United exercised the option on his contract.

Ngoma joined SuperSport on a short-term deal towards the end of last season and, after impressing management, he was rewarded with a one-year extension by the Tshwane outfit.

Before joining SuperSport, the player had been without a club for some months, following his exit from Sundowns, where he was unable to get regular game time. Ngoma was loaned out to Cape Town City during his time at Sundowns.

"I never want to regret any moments I've spent with any club. I think Sundowns have given me the opportunity to win the league and the cups I won while I was there, and to be involved in the Champions League as well. It's something that, as a youngster growing up in Hammanskraal, I dreamt of. I got it at Sundowns. So, as much as I would have liked to play many games, I need to be grateful for the opportunity that they gave me to win the league and cups that I did with the team," Ngoma told the Siya crew.

"A few injuries over the last couple of years hampered my progress. When I joined Cape Town City from Sundowns on loan, I got injured, so I had to start rehabilitation and the league started. That slows you down as a footballer. It's those types of situations that hold you back. That's been difficult, but this season I have a full pre-season. I've had six weeks without any knocks or injuries. I think that should sustain me to last the whole season," Ngoma told the Siya crew.

Ngoma has played six matches in all competitions for SuperSport and is determined to keep going.

"I need to thank the team for taking a chance. It's important to perform and satisfy myself and not disappoint myself. I have to reward the club and thank them for the opportunity they gave me. Every time I step on the field, that's going to play in the back of my mind. I've missed out on football, so I am trying to stay injury free and add to the team's success."

SuperSport host Sundowns in the DStv Premiership at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday night.
