UEFA has revealed its all-time Ultimate Team of the Year, filled with stars who were voted into the famous annual selection the most times, while Cristiano Ronaldo extended his own record of appearing in the side more than any other player.

The annual UEFA Team of the Year was launched in 2001, and is voted for by fans on UEFA's official website.
After European football's governing body announced the 50 nominees for the 2019 UEFA Team of the Year on Tuesday, they also released the all-time selection.
Ronaldo is the player with most appearances in the team, having made the selection 13 times.
He is followed by longstanding rival Lionel Messi, who has been voted into the annual UEFA Team of the Year on 10 occasions.
Sergio Ramos, with eight appearances, is in third spot, while Gerard Pique is the only other active star to appear in the team, having been voted into the best XI five times.
Iker Casillas, Carles Puyol and Andres Iniesta made the team six times each, while Philipp Lahm, Xavi Hernandez and Thierry Henry appeared in five Teams of the Year.

Steven Gerrard is the only player with less than five appearances in the annual team to have made the all-time XI after being nominated seven times. He beats six other midfielders, including Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldinho, who have all also made the UEFA Team of the Year three times but received less nominations.
