UEFA Champions League: Barcelona 3-0 Bayern Munich 6 May 2015

UEFA Champions League Semi-Final First Leg Result: Barcelona 3-0 Bayern Date: 6 May 2015 Venue: Camp Nou A sensational brace from Lionel Messi saw Barcelona ease past Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie on Wednesday. In the first few exchanges of the clash the Barcelona trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez already started looking ominous as they twisted and turned past defenders. Baviarians goalkeeper Manuel Neuer knew he was in for a busy night when around the 15-minute mark he was tested twice, denying Suarez one-on-one before keeping out Neymar's strike. The visitors had a rare chance when Thomas Muller sent a dangerous cross in from the right, but Lewandowski, who was almost surprised when the ball came to him, was unable to direct the ball into the back of the net. Bayern were on the back foot for the majority of the clash but did exceptionally well to absorb the pressure and keep the scoreline locked down at 0-0 until late in the game. However, pure inspiration from Barca maestro Messi broke through the hairline cracks in the Bavarian defence to open the scoring in the 77th minute. Dani Alves won possession on the right and beat a defender before squareing for the Argentine who thrashed it past Neuer at the near post. Three minutes later Messi outdid himself with an even more magical strike. The Catalans' star got the ball on the right and made Boateng look ordinary before dinking his strike past Neuer to find the far corner of the goal and cap off a terrific individual performance. In stoppage time the German outfit went in search of a crucial away goal, but they overextended and were ripped apart on the counter attack and Neymar sprinted clear before slotting past Neuer.
