The Romanian was the fourth official for Paris Saint-Germain's UEFA Champions League clash with the Turkish side.
However, the game was halted in the 14th minute following an incident between Basaksehir assistant coach Webo and Coltescu.
Referee Ovidiu Hategan was called to the sideline to show Webo a red card, and when he asked who he should send off, Coltescu is alleged to have answered with "the negru (Romanian for "black") guy", pointing at Webo.
The comment infuriated the former Cameroon international and many of the visiting team's players before ultimately leading to Basaksehir walking off the pitch, accompanied by their PSG counterparts.
Coltescu has now spoken publicly about the incident for the first time.
"I just try to be good," he said, as reported by Romanian publication ProSport.
"I'm not going to read any news sites these next few days.
"Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not racist! At least that's what I hope."
The game will resume on Wednesday from the 14th minute with a new set of match officials, while UEFA has also stated that they will investigate the incident.
