Tammy Abraham Says Jose Mourinho Is The Best Manager In The World

Tammy Abraham Says Jose Mourinho Is The Best Manager In The World

One of Serie A's leading goalscorers has lauded Jose Mourinho as "the best manager in the world".

Report: Mbappe Makes Decision On Future

AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham has heaped a tremendous amount of praise on his Portuguese manager.

The Englishman switched the English capital for the Italian one at the beginning of the season when he moved from Chelsea to join Mourinho's project with the Giallorossi for a reported fee of €40 million (R637 million).

Since making his debut at the Stadio Olimpico, the 23-year-old has found the back of the net 23 times across all competitions.

Having impressed many this season, Abraham, who has already been linked with a return to the Premier League, had nothing but good things to say about his boss at Roma.

"You know, Mourinho's a character, that we all know," he told talkSPORT.

"There's a reason why I call him the best manager in the world. He knows how to drive you, he knows how to get under your skin and he knows how to make you feel like a very special player at times.

"He'll never tell you but I always want to do my best for him. He pushes me to do my best.

"When I feel like I've done enough, he tells me I have to do more.

"I experienced him when I was at Chelsea as a kid, I went to train with the first team and he was always hard on me, he was always pushing me to better myself – I felt like when I did something right, he'd tell me to do it better."

Abraham's career has drawn comparisons with that of Romelu Lukaku, who also felt he had to leave Stamford Bridge in order to establish himself as a household name in world football, and he did that in the Italian top flight too, with Inter Milan.

In fact, with his 24 league goals in the 2020/21 Serie A season, Lukaku helped the Nerazzurri claim their first Scudetto since Mourinho left the San Siro in 2011.

The Belgian, like Abraham, has previously shared the same fondness for the former FC Porto manager.

"Some beat about the bush, but he comes out straight and tells you what he thinks," Lukaku said of Mourinho four years ago, when he was still an Everton player.

"As a player, that is what you want. The important thing, at 20, is to be playing, and while West Brom was an option, Everton was a better one."
