The Frenchman, who now plays for Salernitana in Serie A, was reportedly a passenger in the car when the crash took place.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the veteran was taken to hospital in Battipaglia following the accident, which is said to have occurred in the Salerno region early on Sunday morning.
With the tricky forward now recuperating at home, his club has confirmed he will miss training while he recovers from his injuries.
"Following a car accident, the footballer Franck Ribery, who was not driving the car, suffered a slight head injury," a statement from Salernitana read.
"The athlete will remain in rest for a few days as a precaution."
Salernitana signed Ribery in September 2021 after he left former club Fiorentina as a free agent.
The 38-year-old has made 16 appearances in the league so far this season, most recently appearing in a 1-1 draw with Bologna over the weekend, and contributed with two assists for Davide Nicola's side.
Having spent the majority of his playing career on Bayern's books, Ribery also has 81 international caps for France and was part of the team that reached the FIFA World Cup final in 2006.
Despite playing in Serie D only a decade ago, Salernitana has risen steadily up the Italian pyramid and won promotion from Serie B after finishing second to Empoli last season.
