The Croatia icon, who has been forced into a reduced role at Los Blancos this term, will see his current deal in Madrid expire at the end of this season.
His long-time midfield partner Kroos recently announced his decision to retire from football after the 2024 UEFA European Championship, with many wondering what Modric's plans are.
The 38-year-old, who will lead his country at the same tournament next month, has now stated he wants to join Kroos in bowing out from the sport while still a Real player – something not many have been able to achieve – but did not confirm whether that will be this year or in future.
"The decision on my future is made, but I can't tell you yet," he told El Partidazo de COPE.
"I have always said I want to retire at Real Madrid, this is what I really want.
"This would be a dream, this is my home, the club of my life. I want a farewell like Toni Kroos."
Modric has amassed an impressive 533 appearances for Los Blancos since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, winning 25 trophies in the process.

The midfielder will have the opportunity to add one more to that collection in the form of the UEFA Champions League trophy, a trophy he already has lifted on five occasions, when Real take on Borussia Dortmund in the final this Saturday.
