Thierry Henry Takes Pop At Cristiano Ronaldo

Thierry Henry Takes Pop At Cristiano Ronaldo

After being asked if he ever requested to swap shirts with an opponent during his career, Thierry Henry seemed to have a sly dig at Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona forward is currently working as a pundit for CBS Sports, and was in studio on Wednesday to discuss the first leg of United and Atletico Madrid's round of 16 UEFA Champions League tie.

During a conversation on camera, Henry was asked if he ever tried to get a player's match shirt after a game during his playing days, to which the Frenchman replied: "Ronaldo. R9. The real Ronaldo.

"For me, how many Ronaldos did you know growing up?"

Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher seemed to contest Henry's remark, saying: "The real one? To call him the 'real Ronaldo' now when we've got Cristiano…"

The 1998 FIFA World Cup winner then insisted that the only player who should go by "Ronaldo" is former Brazil striker Ronaldo Nazario, before remarking that the United superstar is "Cristiano".

The 37-year-old Portuguese attacker was left frustrated in United's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night, a game in which the Red Devils were perhaps fortunate to secure a point.
