Having ended his debut season with Manchester United with a market value of €18 million (R291 million), the 34-year-old saw his worth climb to €26.5 million (R429 million) within a year before jumping to €55 million (R890 million) during his record-breaking 2007/08 Premier League campaign.

His value spiked sharply again in July 2009, to a figure of €70 million (R1.1 billion), when he transferred to LaLiga giants Real Madrid for a then-world record fee of €94 million (R1.5 billion), and climbed to €90 million (R1.4 billion) by the end of that season.
Between August 2012 and July 2014, he was consistently valued at €100 million (R1.6 billion) before reaching a career-high value of €120 million (R1.9 billion) during the 2014/15 LaLiga campaign, a figure he would briefly reach again in January 2018.

Towards the end of his final season at Real, and throughout his debut campaign with Juventus, the Portugal captain's value dropped to €100 million and has since fallen to €90 million, his lowest market valuation since 2012.
