Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo Now Leading Goalscorer In 2017/18

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been in superb form in 2018 so far, has climbed to the top of this season's scoring chart after struggling in the first half of the campaign.

The 33-year-old netted a brace in his side's comfortable 3-0 win over Juventus on Tuesday. The two goals took his tally for the calendar year to 23 strikes, and his improvement in form comes after he struggled to find the back of the net in the beginning of the season.

Overall, the Portuguese has now scored 39 goals across all competitions this campaign, one more than second-placed Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian is the leading marksman across Europe's top leagues with 29 goals, while Ronaldo sits on 22 goals in LaLiga. However, the Los Blancos talisman has also scored 14 times in the UEFA Champions League – twice as many as Salah – as well as twice in the FIFA Club World Cup and once in the Spanish Super Cup. The Liverpool winger, meanwhile, also struck once in Champions League qualification and scored another in the FA Cup.

Ronaldo's longstanding rival Lionel Messi is one of three players, along with Lazio's Ciro Immobile and Benfica's Jonas, who follow with 36 strikes in joint-third place. Edinson Cavani, Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski are also still in touching distance of Ronaldo, having scored 35 goals in 2017/18 so far.
