In a recent interview, six-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi slammed FC Barcelona for a "crazy" decision they made a few months ago.
The 33-year-old fell out with the Blaugrana board before the 2020/21 season got underway as he tried to push for an exit from the club after 16 years in the first team.
Ronald Koeman's arrival in August led to a host of changes to the squad, with a number of senior players, such as Ivan Rakitic, Nelson Semedo, Arturo Vidal and Luis Suarez, being let go.
Messi, who was not happy with the way Suarez was forced out of the club at the time, seemingly still cannot quite believe what happened with the Uruguayan, calling Barcelona's way of handling the matter "crazy".
"What happened with Luis Suarez to Atleti (Atletico Madrid) was crazy!" he told La Sexta TV.
"He left for free, paying the remaining years of his contract, and he joined a team that fight for the same objectives as us. Unbelievable."
Suarez has scored seven goals in 14 matches for Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid since his arrival at the Wanda Metropolitano in September.
