Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, who was known to be a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo growing up, has now commented on the longstanding debate regarding who the better player is between the Portuguese and Lionel Messi.

The 20-year-old has never hidden his admiration for Ronaldo, and even had his room full of posters of the then Real Madrid star growing up (see gallery above).
However, when he was recently asked to give his opinion on who, between the Portuguese and his Argentine rival, is the better player, Mbappe insisted it would be an insult to choose between the two.
"If I had the choice between Messi and Ronaldo for my team? I'd retire and take both of them, to be sure that we win," he told France Football.
"I could choose one, but it would likely be at the expense of the other. And you don't have the right to denigrate one of these two monsters. To choose one would be an insult to everything that the other has achieved.
"When I was younger, I had fun comparing them both. From one year to the next, I changed (who I preferred), even though I admit to having defended Ronaldo more often.
"But now I'm grown up, I'm less certain. There are the Barca followers who prefer (Johan) Cruyff and Messi. And there are others who will say that Ronaldo is the greatest athlete that football has known and has won things wherever he went."

Mbappe is going toe to toe with the two superstars this season, having netted 27 goals in Ligue 1 so far in this campaign – eight league strikes more than Ronaldo in 2018/19, and only beaten by Messi's 33 strikes in Europe's top five leagues.
