Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of football's greatest-ever players, and one of his Portugal teammates has now explained what he thinks sets the Portugal captain apart from the rest.

A Selecao defender Jose Fonte, who came through the Sporting Lisbon academy with Ronaldo, has shed some light on what the Bianconeri star was like as a youngster and why he feels he was always destined to become one of the best.
"I was 16 and Ronaldo had just turned 15," Fonte shared with The Times.
"The first day I saw him in a match, I was obviously impressed; he was different from everyone else, anyone could see that, but what impressed me the most was his mentality.

"Since that age, I used to see him working harder than anyone else: wanting to be stronger, wanting to be faster, betting that he would lift more weight.
"The first memory I have is him in the shower doing press-ups against other team-mates, saying 'I'm going to do more press-ups than you'."

Ronaldo went to make 31 appearances for Sporting before going on to join Manchester United, Real Madrid and then Juve, and cement his status as one of the leading figures in world football.
