Mourinho Reveals Why He Snubbed La Liga Serie A Clubs
The Spanish giants struggled for form at the beginning of last season, with Zidane eventually replacing previous boss Rafael Benitez, who was said to have lost the dressing room, at the Santiago Bernabeu in January.
Ronaldo has admitted that things were gloomy early in the 2015/16 campaign, but added that Zidane managed to turn things around in what turned out to be one of the Portuguese's best seasons to date.
"It was a year that had a bit of everything. We didn't make a good start, or rather we didn't start the way we wanted to, but we ended it well – that was the key to the season," he told World Soccer magazine.
"I think that with (Zinedine) Zidane's arrival, many aspects of the team improved."

Los Blancos ended the 2015/16 league season with 12 straight wins, helping them to second spot in La Liga, just one point behind champions FC Barcelona, and also managed to win their 11th UEFA Champions League crown in May.
Ronaldo is one of three finalists for the UEFA Best Player in Europe award, along with teammate Gareth Bale and Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann. The winner will be announced on Thursday 25 August.
