This year, Portuguese forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has scored nearly as many goals as all the San Lorenzo players put together.
Ronaldo has racked up 56 goals in official games while wearing the Real Madrid shirt this year, while San Lorenzo, winners of the Copa Libertadores and finalist with Real for the Club World Cup, have scored just ten more.
Real Madrid Closing In On Another Record
Ronaldo's amazing figures are even more so if we compare the average number of goals scored per game. San Lorenzo have played 56 official matches and have scored 66 times, this makes a strike-rate of 1.18.
Cristiano has taken part in 51 games and has scored 56 times, this works out to an average strike rate of 1.1.
It seems that this goal-scoring form is partly because of the Portuguese's insatiable hunger for goals. Of the 56 he has scored, 25 have been in la Liga, with 21 wins in a row.
His tally could have been even greater had he not been forced to sit out some games with niggles to his left knee at the end of last season.
Another reason for Ronaldo and San Lorenzo's equality is simply down to the fact that the Argentine team don't score all that much.
Their top goalscorer is Mauro Matos, who, with the deciding goal in his team's 2-1 victory over Auckland City, has scored just nine times so far this year.
