Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has finally ended his goal drought at the Santiago Bernabeu after netting his 30th league goal of the season.
Wasteful Real Drop Points At Home
Ronaldo was delighted to get back to scoring ways, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to stop Los Blancos from dropping more points in La Liga.
The Portuguese scored his last goal at the Bernabeu 85 days ago, which was back on the 6 December against Celta Vigo – that day he scored a hat-trick.
Prior to that, he scored at home came against Ludogorets in the Champions' League group stage, and in the Copa Del Rey against Atletico Madrid.
Ronaldo missed out on two home matches due to the suspension he served for being sent off against Cordoba, and failed to score against Deportivo La Coruna at the Bernabeu too. There was also the break in the Champions League, as well as the league break over the holidays which helped stretch the drought.
The 30-year-old broke his Bernabeu drought after he calmly slotted a 52nd minute penalty against Villarreal on Sunday night, which also saw him move to 30 league goals for this campaign.
The forward is now just one goal behind last season's total, which saw him win the European Golden Boot and the La Liga top scorer award.
Ronaldo has played 35 matches for Real Madrid so far this season and has scored a total of 38 goals in all competitions.
