Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is already the competition's all-time record scorer and now became the player who has lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy more often than any other in history.

The win in Kyiv was Ronaldo's fifth Champions League title, becoming the sole record holder since the inception of the tournament's new format in 1992.
Ronaldo won his first UCL trophy in 2007/08 with Manchester United and now added four in five years with Real Madrid, where he has now won it in 2013/14, 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18.
As a consequence, he broke the record he previously jointly held with Andres Iniesta, Clarence Seedorf, Xavi Hernandez, Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique, who have all won the trophy four times.
Ronaldo's teammates Dani Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Marcelo and Isco all also celebrated their fourth UCL trophy with Real, while Toni Kroos also claimed his fourth UCL title – three with the Spanish giants and one with Bayern Munich.

Only Los Blancos legend Paco Gento has won more trophies in European Cup/Champions League history, lifting the trophy six times in the 1950s/60s.
Alfredo Di Stefano also won the European Cup five times, while Alessandro Costacurta and Paolo Maldini have won Europe's major competition five times as well, but two of their wins came in the European Cup era.
