The 30-year-old was instrumental in Bayern's German double last season and also stared in the Dutch World Cup squad, but has talked down his chances to win the Ballon d'Or.
"It's great to be recognised and I'm proud to be on the shortlist, but it's never been an obsession for me and it never will be, because what I care about are team trophies," he told France Football magazine.
"I don't like comparing myself to other people. Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are two beasts. They are a cut above the rest.
"(But) there are other extraordinary players. You only have to look as far as Bayern: Germany won the World Cup and they have a number of world-class players."
Robben joined Bayern from Real Madrid for around €25 million in 2009 and has since won 11 trophies with the German giants.
He has again started the season in great fashion, scoring six goals and assisting a further three in ten games for Bayern.
