Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has spoken about what he thinks new superstar signing Cristiano Ronaldo can bring to the Italian giants following his €105 million (R1.65 billion) move from Real Madrid.
Official: Ronaldo Joins Juve In Record Deal
Ronaldo has become the Bianconeri's record signing with his move from Spain, which was confirmed by both clubs on Tuesday.
Del Piero, the man who made a record 705 appearances for Juventus, believes that, while the acquisition will boost the club's chances of winning the UEFA Champions League, Ronaldo's winning attitude is the most important thing for the Italian club.
"Juventus want to win the Champions League, but not only that, to be recognised on the same level as the greatest clubs in the world," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"Since 2006, we have struggled in Italian football, so raising the bar here with Ronaldo makes a difference in terms of image for Serie A and calcio.
"He is a player who can score from any angle and has great technique, but on top of any economic aspects, I think he brings this incredible desire to win.
"The hunger he has, the way he wants to be the best, is what drags him forward almost as much as his undoubtable quality."
Real Madrid Transfer News: Five In, Five Out?
Ronaldo scored 450 goals in 438 matches for Real, and Juve will be hoping he can find the net as regularly in Italy.
