Ex-Ghanaian Footballer Claims To Be Marcus Rashford's Biological Father

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was born and raised in England, but a former Ghanaian footballer has now claimed he is the striker's biological father.

Michael Boye Marquaye, who used to play football in Ghana but now lives in the UK, recently had an interview with Ghanaian radio station Star FM, during which he said he had a relationship with Rashford's mother Melania 22 years ago.

"Marcus Rashford is my son and he knows it, although we haven't seen each other for several years," he told Star FM, as cited by Marca.

"Initially, he was angry because he thinks I abandoned him, but that was not the case."

Rashford was born in Wythenshawe, England, in 1997, and Joseph Rashford is thought to be his father.

However, Marquaye has insisted he is the United star's biological dad, and wanted the world to know that the England international has Ghanaian roots.

"Many now are trying to come to me to try and get a new story, but I'm not that type of person who looks for an easy way to get money or become famous," he added.

"I only wanted to make things clear and let the world know that Marcus Rashford has Ghanaian roots."

Meanwhile, Rashford has continued to make positive headlines off the pitch, with the player having reportedly teamed up with FareShareUK to provide three million meals to vulnerable people in England.

He has also returned to training with the Red Devils after picking up a back injury earlier in the campaign, and could return to the pitch in his side's clash with Tottenham Hotspur next Friday.
