Two Paris Saint-Germain stars have been linked with loan moves to Premier League giants Manchester United in January.
10 EPL Signings Who Have Failed To Impress This Season
With the FIFA World Cup taking place in Russia next year, football journalist Ian McGarry believes there is bound to see plenty of movement in the upcoming transfer window, and he named two Ligue 1 stars who could join Jose Mourinho's squad.
Speaking on a podcast called The Transfer Window with colleagues Duncan Castle and Graham Hunter, McGarry tipped Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler to go out on loan in a bid to ensure they get enough game time so that they get picked for the Argentina and Germany squads, respectively, next year.
"We should bear in mind one significant factor in this January window compared to most others – it's World Cup year," McGarry said on the podcast, as quoted by the Daily Star.
"I can see before me a raft of international players out there who currently aren't getting first-team football.
"I'm thinking Julian Draxler and Angel Di Maria at Paris St-Germain.
"Both could be Manchester United players on loan for six months in January in order to get a place in their World Cup squad.
"There's potential in this January window for loan moves, or permanent transfers, which there wouldn't be in other January windows because of the World Cup factor.
"I think loan moves are going to be big for the January window."
Mourinho: This Star Will Get More Chances At Man Utd
Di Maria had a miserable single season at United back in 2014/15, while Draxler has been tipped for a move to the EPL for quite some time already.
