Brazil superstar, Neymar was presented to the supporters as Paris Saint-Germain began the season with a 2-0 win over Amiens on Saturday.

Neymar was unable to make his debut and was forced to watch from the stands, as Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria and Javier Pastore started in the attack.

The home side nearly broke the deadlock after 18 minutes when Adrian Rabiot rattled the crossbar with a thumping header.

It was one way traffic for most of the first half, as Amiens barely threatened the home side's goal.

The visitors did carve out their first chance on 30 minutes but Issa Cissokho failed to direct his close-range header on target.

PSG squandered another chance seven minutes later when Di Maria picked out Layvin Kurzawa, who headed just wide of the upright.

The home side eventually broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime as Cavani turned home Dani Alves' low cross.

After a quiet start to the second half, PSG nearly grabbed their second goal after 59 minutes but Di Maria's curling effort from 20-yards out flew just wide of the upright.

Ameins went close to leveling matters in the 65th minute through Seybou Keita, but the striker's effort was saved by Alphonse Areola.

PSG eventually sealed the win in the 80th minute as Cavani turned provider to pick out Pastore, who smashed home from close range,2-0.
