French Ligue 1
Result: Montpellier 0-0 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 23 September 2017
Venue: Stade de la Mosson
Paris Saint-Germain dropped points for the first time this season in their 0-0 draw with Montpellier on Saturday evening.
The Ligue 1 giants were without the services of Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler for the encounter.
It was a slow start to the match as Unai Emery's charges were content at knocking the ball around, building from the back in the opening minutes.
Edinson Cavani had a chance to put the visitors ahead in the 21st minute but fluffed his chance inside the box after being setup by Julian Drexler.
The hosts started to grow in the game after half-an-hour and were threatening to score on counter-attacks.
Kylian Mbappe should have broken the deadlock in the stroke of halftime but his well struck shot inside the edge of the box missed narrowly wide.
The resistance of the hosts was beginning to crack as PSG were finding openings after the hour-mark.
Lucas Moura carved out a chance for Cavani in the 75th minute with a looping cross but the striker's header went slightly over the bar from inside the box.
In the 86 minutes, Emery brought in Giovani Lo Celso in the place of Thiago Motta as he went for broke.
However, the visitors could not find the back of the net as they settled for a point away from home.
