The 30-year-old is three strikes away from drawing level with the former Sweden international's record of 156 goals for the Ligue 1 giants.
Speaking ahead of his club's UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, Cavani commented on how special it would be to break the record but insisted that his team's success comes first.
"The moment will come. It's something extraordinary for any player, but quite honestly, everyone at Paris knows how I am," Cavani said at a conference, according to UEFA.com.
"I focus a lot more than on the collective than the individual. I always aim to give the maximum.
"The most important thing is that we win and hopefully win the trophy in the end."
